Any road trip to Dorset must feature a visit to the Jurassic Coast of Lyme Regis. Here you can undergo some fossil hunting, browse in the quaint gift shops along the cobbled paths and visit the shore Aquarium. As an area of outstanding natural beauty and of endless beaches, you will find much to enjoy here.
Weymouth is a fun seaside town that boasts sandy beaches alongside a promenade dotted with shops, restaurants and cafes. It is perfect for a day on the beach or a day's sailing. Weymouth was the host for the sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Brewer's Quay is a fantastic place to buy unusual gifts and you won't be short of hiking and biking trails if you want to be a bit more active.
Another popular seaside resort is that of Bournemouth. There are over 7 miles of sandy beaches to enjoy, so perfect if you ae on a road trip with the kids. If you are enjoying a romantic getaway then Bournemouth has a buzzing nightlife with lots of places to eat and drink. Situated in Wareham, Monkey World is a must visit for both adults and children. This 65-acre park houses monkeys from the TV shows ‘Monkey Business’ and ‘Monkey Life’. Providing a safe sanctuary for monkeys, the zoo is warm and friendly and allows you to see these beautiful animals in their home environment.
Before embarking on any road trip of any distance, you do need to carry out some basic safety checks before you set up. Always ensure that fluid levels such as oil, water and window washer are correct. It is also important to check your tyre pressure and that you have all relevant emergency equipment for your journey, just in case something happens. Other than that though, you simply need to enjoy your time away.
